The lockdown, which began at 3:55 p.m., also affected nearby Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School. School officials assured that there was no threat to students on campus at any time. However, reports emerged on social media claiming an 18-year-old was the victim of the shooting. These claims, posted on a local crime watch group's Facebook page, stated the victim might have been a student from a nearby school. Eyewitnesses reported hearing around ten shots, and a person claiming to be at Alisal High School during a basketball tournament shared their experience of being on lockdown. A drone video captured the heavy police presence in the area. According to a report from the Salinas Chronicle, an 18-year-old was shot in the neck on Camarillo Court in Salinas. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not confirmed any details about the shooter.
