Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence has detected a significant buildup of Chinese military assets around the island. As of 6 am local time on Wednesday, five Chinese aircraft sorties, eight naval vessels, and one ship were detected operating in the area. One of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone. This development comes after a similar detection on Tuesday, where six Chinese aircraft sorties and six naval vessels were spotted around the island. Two of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's northern and southwestern ADIZ. The increased military presence by China has raised concerns about potential aggression towards Taiwan. In response, the bipartisan US House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party has released a report titled 'Ten More for Taiwan'. The report outlines urgent steps to strengthen deterrence against Chinese aggression and preserve peace in the Taiwan Strait. The report, released by Committee Chairman John Moolenaar and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi, warns that developments driven by Beijing have significantly increased the risk of conflict. It calls for deeper US-Taiwan cooperation across defence, trade, technology, and political engagement to prevent war and maintain stability in the region. The report emphasizes the need for the US to use all elements of national power, including military, economic, political, and diplomatic tools, to effectively deter Chinese aggression. The US primary objective is to prevent war, and the report highlights the importance of urgent action to address the growing threat.
