A controversy has erupted within the MAGA base after President Donald Trump's remarks on the tragic deaths of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. Reiner, the director of Stand By Me, was not a fan of Trump, and his son Nick has been identified as the suspect in the double murder. Trump took to Truth Social to describe Reiner's alleged affliction with 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' (TDS) as the reason for his death. In a statement that has sparked outrage, Trump wrote, 'A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, Sometimes referred to as TDS.' When questioned about his comments in the Oval Office, Trump doubled down on his attack, describing Reiner as 'a deranged person' who was 'very bad for our country.' The President's remarks have caused discomfort among his most loyal followers, with some notable voices like MAGA podcaster Tim Pool and Priya Patel speaking out against Trump. Republican lawmakers like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie have also expressed their displeasure, with Massie calling Trump's comments 'inappropriate and disrespectful discourse.' On the other hand, some Trump loyalists like Laura Loomer and Jack Posobiec have solidly backed the President's play. The controversy has sparked a debate within the MAGA base, with some questioning Trump's decision to use the Reiner tragedy to make a political point. As the debate rages on, one thing is clear: Trump's comments have caused a rift within his own base, and the fallout is far from over.
