Superstar Aamir Khan has changed his stance on the OTT release of his film Sitaare Zameen Par. Initially, he had announced plans to stream it directly on YouTube after its theatrical run, but the film is now gearing up for its digital premiere on Sony LIV.
The film, which was released in June last year, will be available on the streaming platform eight months after its theatrical outing. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, and is said to be the spiritual sequel to the 2007 hit film Taare Zameen Par.
The release of Sitaare Zameen Par sparked chatter around the theatre vs OTT debate, with Aamir opting for a pay-per-view model via YouTube instead of an OTT release. However, the film is now set to be released on Sony LIV, marking a special milestone for the platform as its first Hindi theatrical film to premiere on the service.
