Actor Allu Sirish Breaks Gender Norms with Bold Fashion Choices

Allu Sirish talks to Hindustan Times about breaking gender norms and accepting fluidity after being trolled for wearing ‘feminine’ jewellery.

Actor Allu Sirish recently made headlines for wearing an intricate choker at his engagement to Nayanika Reddy in October 2025. The actor, who tied the knot recently, faced a barrage of memes and trolls for breaking gender norms and jazzing up his outfit. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sirish expressed his self-assurance in not letting others dictate what's masculine or feminine.

He explained that gender norms are a new construct and that in ancient times, people were more gender fluid. Sirish pointed out that men also wore jewelry and that until a hundred years ago, there was no separate perfume for men and women. He emphasized the importance of breaking free from limiting beliefs and embracing Indian style jewelry.

Sirish also shared that those around him weren't initially sold on the idea of him wearing a choker, but he convinced them that it was time to break free from traditional norms. He expressed his happiness in being able to wear what he wanted for his special occasion and not letting others dictate his fashion choices.
