India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to successfully defend the men's T20 World Cup title.

India's former T20 World Cup-winning captains MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma were also in attendance at the stadium.
For this performance, Jasprit Bumrah was named the Player of the Match, while Sanju Samson was awarded the Player of the Tournament accolade for his haul of 321 runs in five matches.
