Actor Kareena Kapoor has weighed in on the debate over working hours for female actors in the film industry, suggesting that women should have the freedom to set their own parameters. Speaking with Hollywood Reporter India, Kapoor emphasized the importance of planning and clear communication from the start of a project.
Kapoor's comments come in the wake of a controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone's demand for an 8-hour shift, which she claimed was a standard practice for male superstars in the industry. Padukone had faced backlash for her decision, with some producers questioning her commitment to the project.
Kapoor, who recently wrapped up filming for the investigative crime thriller Daayra, believes that women should be able to set their own boundaries and work at their own pace. 'If you don't want to give that time, you should be able to have that freedom to say, 'This is what I want. I can only work this number of hours,' she said.
The debate over working hours for female actors in Bollywood has sparked a wider conversation about the industry's treatment of women and the need for greater flexibility and understanding.
