In 2025, Monalisa Bhonsle, a young woman who gained fame for her appearance at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, married her lover Farman Khan at the Nayanar Temple in Arumanoor, Kerala.

Farman, an actor and model from Bhagpat district in Uttar Pradesh, met Monalisa on a film set and they became friends through social media. They dated for six months before getting married.

Monalisa and Farman have denied claims of 'love jihad', stating that their love is not influenced by religion. They also showed her birth certificate, which lists her as born in 2008, and said they married according to Hindu traditions.

The couple faced opposition from Monalisa's family, who allegedly pressured her to marry her aunt's son due to his religion. However, Monalisa insisted on marrying Farman and was supported by Kerala ministers and leaders who attended their wedding ceremony.

Monalisa and Farman have expressed their happiness in being married in Kerala, a state that they believe supports people beyond religion and caste. They also plan to settle down in the South and act in Malayalam films.
