The conversation around pay parity in Bollywood has resurfaced, with Saif Ali Khan sharing his thoughts on the matter. Speaking on a podcast, the actor emphasized that salaries in the film industry are linked to box-office economics and an actor's box-office pull rather than gender.
He believes that actors of similar standing should ideally earn the same, but noted that the economics of the industry work in a certain way. If an actor is filling theatres, they get paid accordingly, and everyone understands this relationship.
Saif further explained that remuneration in the industry is closely tied to an actor's box-office pull, making it a balanced economic system where people are clear about an actor's worth and charge accordingly.
Kunal Kemmu also spoke about how actors' fees are calculated in the industry, pointing to a long-standing financial model tied to distribution and territory sales.
