As the United States and Iran continue to clash, civilians are bearing the brunt of the conflict. A haunting photograph of freshly dug graves for schoolgirls killed in a strike in southern Iran has become a symbol of the human cost.
The photograph, posted on X by Iran's foreign minister, shows rows of graves stretching across an open dirt field, marked by white chalk rectangles and mourners gathering nearby.
The image is from Minab, where 165 schoolgirls were killed during a joint US-Israeli bombing of the school.
Iran's foreign minister described the victims as 'innocent young girls' whose bodies were 'torn to shreds.'
According to Iran's state-run news agency, 96 people were also wounded in the strike, although the figures have not been independently verified.
Verified videos from the site showed rescue workers digging through rubble, with school bags pulled from the debris.
The United Nations has labelled the strike a deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure and a war crime.
