Arunachal Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has urged the Centre to provide support for the state's key infrastructure projects, citing its strong record of fiscal discipline. Mein made the plea during a pre-budget consultation chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi. The high-level meeting brought together governors, chief ministers, and senior officials to discuss the Union Budget 2026-27. Mein highlighted Arunachal Pradesh's progress despite its remoteness and long-standing developmental challenges. He emphasized the state's commitment to fiscal discipline, meeting all its committed liabilities on time. Mein identified priority infrastructure projects, including the augmentation of water supply and drainage systems, and the strategic Rupai to Wakro Parashuram Kund railway line. He stressed that the railway project would improve connectivity, strengthen border infrastructure, and promote tourism in the state. The project has already received clearance from the Ministry of Defence. The deputy chief minister also drew attention to the state's limited access to externally aided projects and emphasized the need for continued Centre support to bridge resource gaps and maintain development momentum. Mein reaffirmed the state government's commitment to fiscal prudence and close coordination with the Centre to accelerate inclusive and sustainable development across Arunachal Pradesh.
