New Delhi: The Congress party has finalized a list of prominent speakers for the upcoming Lok Sabha debate on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. Gaurav Gogoi, the party's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, will be joined by several other notable members, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Deepender Hooda, and A Bimol Akoijam, in the discussion. The party is also set to field Praniti Shinde, Prashant Padole, Chamala Reddy, and Jyotsana Mahant, further bolstering its lineup. The debate, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 8, will see Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers participate in the day-long discussion. The event aims to commemorate the national song's historic role in India's freedom struggle, with a focus on engaging youth and students nationwide. The celebrations, approved by the Union Cabinet on October 1, aim to deepen awareness of Vande Mataram's significance through country-wide initiatives. Composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji in Sanskrit, the song was first featured in his novel Anandamath and later became a rallying cry during India's fight for independence.
