Delhi's air quality index (AQI) registered a slight improvement on Tuesday morning, dropping from 'severe' levels on Monday. However, many areas in the national capital continued to grapple with hazardous pollution, forcing thousands to breathe toxic air.The Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) Sameer app reported Delhi's AQI at 381 as of 6:30 AM on Tuesday, categorizing it as 'very poor.' Wazirpur was the worst-affected area, with an AQI reading of 434, followed closely by Jahangirpuri with 430. Other areas like Mundka, Delhi Technical University (DTU), and Nehru Nagar monitoring stations also showed 'severe' levels between 424 and 420.This comes after Monday's average AQI of 427 marked the third consecutive day the capital fell into the 'severe' category. According to CPCB guidelines, AQI levels between 0 and 50 are considered 'good,' 51 to 100 'satisfactory,' 101 to 200 'moderate,' 201 to 300 'poor,' 301 to 400 'very poor,' and 401 to 500 'severe.'The dense haze that engulfed Delhi on Monday made it difficult to see even short distances, disrupting hundreds of flights from the national capital. Both the airport and airlines issued advisories as visibility conditions worsened.
