Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar plans to request additional time from the Delhi Police to appear before investigators in connection with the National Herald case. Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress president, intends to do so after the current winter session of the Karnataka legislature concludes on December 19. He had initially planned to appear before the police on Monday but postponed his visit to attend the last rites of veteran Congress leader Shamanuru Shivashankarappa. The Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing has issued a notice to Shivakumar seeking financial and transactional details related to the case. Shivakumar expressed his desire to obtain a copy of the first information report (FIR) and stated that he has only learned about its contents through media reports. He plans to return to Delhi next week to comply with the police notice. The National Herald case was registered on October 3 against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The Delhi Police's notice to Shivakumar seeks details about his personal background, his association with the Congress party, and a detailed account of funds that he or entities linked to him are alleged to have transferred to Young Indian. During his visit to Delhi, Shivakumar attended the Congress party's 'Vote Chori' rally and participated in a lunch hosted for party leaders. He denied any speculation about internal power dynamics in Karnataka, stating that such interactions are routine within the party.
