A devastating incident has struck the Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh, where a 20-month-old male cheetah cub was fatally hit by an unidentified vehicle on a national highway in the Ghatigaon area of Gwalior district. The incident, which occurred early on Sunday, has sparked a search operation for the second cub, believed to be separated from its mother and still roaming the area. The cub had wandered out of the park and got separated from its mother, according to Inspector General of Police Arvind Saxena. To prevent any further incidents, authorities have implemented traffic restrictions and reduced speed limits on the highway. The forest officials are working tirelessly to locate the remaining cub, and the area is being thoroughly searched. This tragic incident comes amidst efforts to reintroduce cheetahs into the wild, with the release of a cheetah cub into the wild at KNP just a day before the incident.
