Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate India's first nature-themed airport terminal in Guwahati on December 20, marking a major milestone in the country's aviation and infrastructure journey. The ₹4,000 crore terminal, built to handle 13.1 million passengers annually, is inspired by Assam's biodiversity and cultural heritage. The Bamboo Orchids Terminal 2 features 57 orchid-inspired columns, a "Sky Forest" with over 1 lakh indigenous plants, and Kaziranga-inspired green landscapes. The terminal's design showcases the use of locally sourced Northeast bamboo and japi motifs, giving it a unique and immersive experience for passengers. The Guwahati airport's new terminal is part of the government's efforts to boost economic integration and inclusive growth in the North Eastern region. The facility is expected to transform travel, boost tourism, and open up new economic opportunities for millions. During his two-day visit to Assam, PM Modi will also unveil development projects worth around ₹15,600 crore. The prime minister will address a public meeting outside the terminal building and undertake a walkthrough of the New Terminal Building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport.
