India's largest carrier, IndiGo, is slowly regaining its footing after a six-day crisis disrupted flight operations across the country. Despite challenges, the airline has managed to operate 1,650 flights on Sunday, a significant improvement from Saturday's 1,500 flights. The airline had initially faced cancellations of over 1,000 flights on Friday, the worst day of the crisis, but has since taken steps to mitigate the impact. On Saturday, 850 flights were cancelled, and this number dropped to 650 on Sunday. The Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have taken measures to address the situation, including capping airline fares and issuing directives on refunds and baggage handling. The airline has also set up a Crisis Management Group to monitor the situation and ensure customer support. Key developments include: * 1,650 flights operated on Sunday, with an on-time performance of 75%, up from a historic low of 8.5% on Friday. * Refunds and luggage processes are in full action, with the airline directed to clear all pending refunds by Sunday evening. * The airline has cancelled 112 flights at the Mumbai airport and 109 flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol has assured the government is taking the matter seriously and will take action after the investigation committee's report is submitted. With the crisis expected to continue till December 10, IndiGo is working to restore its operations and minimize disruptions to passengers.
