In a series of key decisions, the Kerala Cabinet led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has taken a major step in promoting defence manufacturing and boosting land rights. The Cabinet has allocated 180 acres of land, free of cost, to BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Limited in Kattakkada taluk. This land will be used exclusively for the construction of an advanced missile unit and related activities. The Cabinet has also made provisions for workers in the state. Treesa Jolly, a Commonwealth Games medalist, will be given a job in the State Goods and Services Tax Department. Additionally, 649 families in Pathanamthitta district will be granted title deeds for their land holdings, provided they meet certain conditions. However, families with an annual income above ₹2.5 lakh will not qualify for free assignment. Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved revised guidelines for the regularisation of casual and temporary sweepers in government offices. Workers with continuous service since November 25, 2005, may be regularised as part-time sweepers if they meet specific conditions. The government will also reserve 20% of future part-time sweeper vacancies for currently working casual sweepers. These decisions aim to promote defence manufacturing, boost land rights, and regularise worker positions in the state. The Cabinet's efforts are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of citizens and the development of the state.
