The Supreme Court expressed frustration on Thursday when a counsel mentioned that a couple in a matrimonial dispute had met on Shaadi.com. Justice JB Pardiwala questioned the relevance of the matrimonial site, saying 'What do we do with Shaadi.com?' and suggested mediation. This comes days after the site's founder, Anupam Mittal, was granted protection from arrest due to allegations of fraud. A woman in Hyderabad alleged she was scammed out of ₹11 lakh by a user who created a fake profile on the platform. Mittal's advocate argued that the website was merely a matchmaker and that the founder shouldn't be held liable. A Supreme Court bench had previously set aside a Telangana High Court order and remitted the matter for fresh consideration. The court granted Mittal protection from arrest for two weeks and asked him to seek interim bail in the high court.
