The Telangana high court has delivered a significant verdict, upholding the recruitment of 563 candidates for top administrative posts in the state. The decision allows the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to proceed with the appointments, despite allegations of malpractices in the evaluation of answer sheets. A division bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G M Mohiuddin, set aside a previous single-judge order that had suspended the results of the Group-I Mains examinations. The bench dismissed a writ appeal filed by some candidates who had sought a re-examination, citing the absence of any evidence of malpractices in the evaluation of answer sheets. The Group-I posts, which include deputy collectors, revenue divisional officers, and police officials, were filled through an examination held in October 2024. Around 30,000 candidates appeared for the exams, and the results were announced in March 2025. The TGPSC had released a general rankings list and a list of selected candidates, but some candidates challenged the results in court, alleging large-scale irregularities. The high court's decision is a significant relief for the TGPSC and the state government, which had been waiting for the outcome of the case. The verdict is also a boost for the 563 candidates who have been selected for the top administrative posts. However, the court's decision is subject to the outcome of any further appeals that may be filed in the case.
