Delhi's severe air pollution has prompted Singapore to issue a crucial advisory for its nationals residing in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). The Singapore High Commission in India advised its citizens to stay indoors and wear masks when venturing out, citing the Indian government's restrictions and warnings. The advisory comes as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi reached 437 at 2 pm on Monday, with all monitoring stations recording an AQI of 400 or above. The Delhi government has urged residents, particularly children and those with respiratory or cardiac issues, to stay indoors and wear masks. Under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), Stage 4 has been invoked, imposing severe restrictions on construction and industrial activities and encouraging schools and offices to adopt a hybrid format. The Singapore High Commission urged its nationals to 'pay heed' to the Indian government's advice and take necessary precautions. Additionally, the advisory warned of potential flight disruptions due to low visibility, with several airlines issuing advisories and the Indira Gandhi International Airport experiencing cancellations and delays. The Singapore High Commission provided a contact point for any consular assistance required by its nationals in the region. The situation in Delhi remains critical, with AQI levels above 400 classified as 'severe' and 450 or above as 'severe plus'. The Delhi airport reported improved runway visibility, but passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updated flight information.
