The Kansas City Chiefs have made a stunning move in the quarterback market, opting for Justin Fields over Russell Wilson as a backup for injured starter Patrick Mahomes.

Fields, 27, was acquired from the New York Jets in a trade that saw the Chiefs give up a sixth-round pick in 2027 and the Jets agree to pay $7 million of his $10 million guaranteed 2026 salary.

The move comes as a shock to many, given Wilson's experience and recent stint with the Giants, where he played very little this season.

Wilson, still on the market, continues to search for a new team ahead of the 2026 season.
