Veteran cornerback Darius Slay Jr has announced his retirement from the NFL after a 13-year career that included multiple Pro Bowl honors. His wife, Jennifer Slay, was quick to react to the news.
In a video posted on social media, Slay revealed his decision to retire, saying 'Football was my peace, my joy, my everything.' He added, 'This game put me in a position to help take care of my family and loved ones and I'm forever grateful.'
Jennifer Slay described her husband's announcement as 'the coldest video' on her Instagram stories, further posting photos of him. She wrote, 'Proud of you 2,' referring to the ex-Eagles star's jersey number.
Darius Slay entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and became one of the league's most reliable cornerbacks. He earned six Pro Bowl selections across his career with the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.
Slay closes his NFL career with an impressive statistical résumé, including 655 tackles, 28 interceptions, and 163 pass breakups. He will be remembered as one of the top defensive backs of his era.
