Mumbai: Germany's Deniz Undav put in a vintage German show against Ivory Coast, scoring both goals to secure their passage to the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2014.

Undav, who plays for Vfb Stuttgart, scored 19 goals in the 2025-26 Bundesliga season and has been impressive at the World Cup, scoring three times and making two assists so far.

Despite being out-of-favour with coach Julian Nagelsmann, Undav's performance against Ivory Coast has given him a chance to prove himself and earn a spot in the starting lineup.

The 29-year-old striker has shown that he is more than capable of taking on the responsibility in front of goal, and his display against Ivory Coast was a testament to his skills and abilities.

Nagelsmann was impressed with Undav's performance, marching straight to him to congratulate his striker at the full-time whistle.
