The Indian women's hockey team secured a spot in the FIH World Cup but their 0-2 loss to England in the final highlights the need for improvement.

The team, ranked world No.9, struggled to find control and were outplayed by England, the world No.6, in the qualifier in Hyderabad.

India will need to work on their speed, fitness, and penalty corner routines ahead of the World Cup in Netherlands and Belgium from August 14-30.

The team, led by Dutchman Sjoerd Marijne, will look to bounce back from the loss and improve their performance in the World Cup.

India will be competing in their third successive World Cup, after finishing eighth and ninth in 2018 and 2022 respectively.
