Indian Duo Ends Two-Year Title Drought at Singapore Open

Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty ended a two-year title drought by winning the Singapore Open, beating Indonesian third seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 18-21, 21-17, 21-16 in the final.

The Indian pair, who had last won a title 24 months ago at the 2024 Thailand Open, showed resilience, tactical brilliance, and raw energy in a thrilling final that lasted an hour and 13 minutes.

Rankireddy and Shetty, who had come close to winning several titles since their last victory, finally ended their wait and clinched their fourth Super 750 or above title, along with their second victory in four meetings against the world No.3 Indonesians.

The Indian pair will next play at the $1.45mn Indonesia Open starting on Monday, where they were winners in 2023.
