Newly-appointed High-Performance Director Ian Butler has a plan to transform Indian wrestling into a world-beating force.

Butler, who has been globe-trotting with British MMA star Paul Daley, aims to introduce data-driven practices, improve strength and conditioning, and enhance technical skills.

He believes Indian wrestlers need to be stronger, both physically and mentally, to compete with the best in the world.

Butler will be in India for 3-4 weeks leading up to the Asian Games and will work with Indian coaches virtually to implement his high-performance program.

He wants to find a balance between efficiency and training, suggesting a smarter way to train with rest and recovery as critical components.

Butler's long-term goal is to see India dominate international wrestling for 20-30 years and win a medal in each weight category at the Asian Games level.
