The Cincinnati Bengals have signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson to a one-year contract, providing depth behind Joe Burrow. Johnson, a 14-year NFL veteran, has played for 14 teams in 19 years, including stints in alternative leagues.
Johnson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2008 draft and has appeared in 50 regular-season NFL games, making 11 starts. He has completed 242 of 412 pass attempts for 2,669 yards, recording 14 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions.
Johnson's professional career has also included stops in the United Football League and the XFL. He will back up Burrow in 2026, who struggled with a grade 3 turf toe injury that required surgery in 2025, leading to the Bengals' worst record since his rookie campaign.
