Lucknow: Former India hockey player and coach of the Indian junior men’s team, Rajnish Mishra, is excited about the upcoming U-18 Asia Cup in Japan. Led by Ketan Kushwaha, India will face Kazakhstan, Japan, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei in the tournament.
Mishra, who has seen many exciting moments in his career, is now looking forward to seeing young players win the title. He has been working with the team for two years and has seen significant changes in the players.
The Indian team includes five players from Lucknow Hockey Hostel, including the captain, who were part of Mishra's wards. His elevation to coach of the India U-18 team is a personal milestone and a proud moment for UP hockey.
Mishra's tenure as UP Hockey secretary emphasized improving coaching networks, upgrading training facilities, and strengthening pathways from district academies to state representation. His coaching role is being framed as a reward for the UP contingent's collective achievements.
