Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen has been on a remarkable run, reaching the All England Open final and winning the Australian Open, his first title outside India in 28 months. But what led to his resurgence after a dip in form that saw him drop from No.6 to No.25 in the world rankings?

Lakshya credits his trainer-cum-mental conditioning coach Mon Nimrod Brokman, who helped him bridge his issues and balance his game. Brokman worked with Lakshya at the start of 2025, focusing on improving his perception, cognitive skills, and physical load.

'We wanted him to be able to capture more details faster, which means eventually the game becomes slower for him,' Brokman said. 'We were working on different cognitive skills and physical load.'

Lakshya's maturity and openness to explore new techniques have also been key factors in his success. 'He is very open-minded to explore and is very aware of what works for him and what doesn’t,' Brokman added.

With his new coach Yoo Yong-sung and physio Satej Dalvi, Lakshya has been able to put a good team together and replicate his former form. His journey is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and the right guidance.
