Top seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have been forced to pull out of the Swiss Open men's doubles quarter-finals due to an old right shoulder injury suffered by Rankireddy.
The world No. 4 Indian pair withdrew from the $250,000 Super 300 competition in Basel after Rankireddy's injury flared up before the last eight clash.
Rankireddy's coach Tan Kim Her stated that the injury is an old one and requires at least one week's rest before the Asia Championships, which will be held from April 7-12 in Ningbo, China.
The Indian pair had a solid chance to end their title drought, having last won a tournament 22 months ago, but their withdrawal has left them with a setback.
Tharun Mannepalli is the only Indian left alive in the tournament, and he will take on Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the men's singles quarter-final later in the day.
