New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events, Vinesh Phogat, the two-time World Championships medallist, made a bold statement to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) officials, reiterating her determination to return to the sport. After losing a gripping semi-final against Asian Championships medallist Meenakshi Goyat in the Asian Games selection trials, Vinesh left the mat with a sense of satisfaction, daring the federation to challenge her again.

With a renewed hunger and sharp attacks, Vinesh contested three bouts on Saturday, winning the first two before losing in the semi-final. Although she won't be travelling for the Asian Games in Japan, her performance suggested she's far from finished.

Stepping onto the mat for the first time since the Paris Olympics, Vinesh beat Jyoti 7-1 and then defeated U-23 world champion Nishu in a thrilling contest. However, she lost to Meenakshi Goyat in a similarly frantic, fast-paced bout.

Despite the loss, Vinesh remained defiant, vowing to return better prepared and targeting the LA Olympics. With fans surrounding her, she sat numb after the loss, but soon began talking about her future plans.
