Actor Rajshri Deshpande recently announced on social media that she is battling grade 1 breast cancer. She credits a routine check for catching the disease in time, saying it was found after a sonography and biopsy.
Describing the experience, Deshpande said she was shocked by how few of her friends had undergone breast cancer screenings, and she's now thinking about creating awareness in rural areas where women may not have access to mammography.
The actress believes the taboo surrounding cancer needs to be broken, and she's using her experience to advocate for breast health awareness. She's planning breast cancer workshops in the coming weeks and is urging people to gift their women loved ones with sonography, pap smear tests, and mammograms on Women's Day.
