Kareena Kapoor and Kalyani Priyadarshan have expressed concerns over the dominance of hyper-masculine films in Bollywood, citing a lack of 'fun, energy, colour, song, love or romance'.
The actresses spoke about the trend in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, stating that it's a 'spectacle-driven' approach that prioritizes violence and gore over emotional, intimate moments.
Kareena Kapoor noted that the current trend is 'not selling cinema' and is instead driving out smaller, more nuanced films. Kalyani Priyadarshan added that the audience plays a significant role in dictating cinematic trends.
The actresses also discussed their upcoming projects, with Kareena set to appear in Meghna Gulzar's Daayra and Kalyani awaiting the release of her Tamil film Genie.
