Raaj Shaandilyaa, the director of Bhagam Bhag 2, has broken his silence on the legal tussle with producer Ektaa Kapoor over the film's delay. In a statement shared with Variety India, Raaj claimed that there has been an attempt to intimidate him and that he felt mistrusted by Ektaa Kapoor's production house, Balaji Telefilms.
According to Raaj, he had issued a notice terminating his contract with Balaji Telefilms, which was signed in 2019 for a three-film deal. The director stated that if the production house had any valid legal grounds to challenge the termination, they should have approached the civil court. However, instead, they have resorted to making 'exaggerated and baseless criminal allegations' against him.
Raaj remains confident in his legal position and has assured that the film Bhagam Bhag 2 is still on track and will proceed as scheduled. The project stars Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, with Manoj Bajpayee recently joining the cast as one of the leads.
The director had already completed the script of his third film, Sonam Bewafa Hai, but recent communication from the production house made him feel uneasy, leading him to believe that the inquiries were intrusive and mistrustful.
Bhagam Bhag, a popular Bollywood comedy directed by Priyadarshan, was released in 2006 and follows the chaotic journey of a theatre troupe caught up in a series of crimes while travelling abroad.
