Steve Carell's new series 'Rooster' delves into the complexities of father-daughter relationships, a theme inspired by a personal experience with his own adult daughter. In the show, Carell plays Greg Russo, a successful author who takes a job at a small liberal arts school to stay close to his daughter Katie, a professor.
The series, created by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, is Carell's first outright television comedy since leaving 'The Office' in 2011. Carell credits Lawrence's unique tone and style for drawing him in instantly.
The show also features a talented ensemble cast, including Danielle Deadwyler, John C. McGinley, and Phil Dunster. Deadwyler, known for her dramatic roles, is making her debut in comedy, while McGinley and Dunster bring their own brand of humor to the show.
Lawrence's signature quirky supporting characters are also a hallmark of 'Rooster,' including a police officer who misplaces his gun and an administrative assistant who has a crush on Greg.
