Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's highly anticipated film, Thalaivar 173, has been making waves in the industry. However, director Sundar C recently broke his silence on exiting the project, citing 'too much pressure' as the reason.

In an interview with Behindwoods, Sundar C shared his thoughts on why he stepped away from the film. He stated that the pressure of working on a big project like this was overwhelming, and he felt he couldn't stay true to the project or the people involved.

Sundar C also revealed that he had informed Rajinikanth about his decision to quit the project and that director Cibi Chakaravarthi was roped in to helm the project.

Recalling his association with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, Sundar C expressed his gratitude and admiration for the two icons. He apologized to fans for opting out of the film and stated that it was a 'difficult decision.'

Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have been teasing their collaboration since before the release of Rajinikanth's film Coolie in 2025. Kamal was last seen in Mani Ratnam's Thug Life and is now shooting for a yet-to-be-announced project. Rajinikanth will soon star in Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2.
