Israel said it killed Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, just days after signing a trilateral agreement with the US and Lebanon to end the war in the Middle East country.

The Israeli military claimed to have struck a rocket launcher in the Nabatieh area, removing a threat to its soldiers, despite the interim truce deal.

Iran called the attack a 'blatant violation' of the agreement, while Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected the deal, dubbing it 'humiliating, shameful, and a surrender of sovereignty'.

Tensions have escalated in the Middle East, with the US repeatedly striking Iran for targeting ships in the Hormuz Strait and both sides accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
