Iran's Revolutionary Guards have launched strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian territory, warning that any further military action would receive a 'crushing response'.

Tensions between the United States and Iran continued to flare on the second day straight after the US military said it had struck multiple targets in Iran at President Donald Trump's direction, continuing a string of attacks that have shaken the war's uneasy ceasefire.

The Iranian strikes damaged a residential building in Bahrain, though no casualties have been reported, according to the interior ministry. The ministry added that Bahrain intercepted several Iranian attacks amid renewed US-Iran tensions.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its navy and aerospace forces had launched a joint missile and drone operations targeting US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain.

The Guards said in a statement that US strikes had violated the ceasefire and 'will result in the complete halt of all diplomatic processes', according to state-run Press TV.

American bases in the region 'will experience hell in the coming days,' the statement said.
