Six people died and nine were injured in a devastating building collapse in Saidulajab, Delhi, on Saturday evening. The four-storey building, which was under construction, crumpled onto an adjacent eatery, where several students were having dinner.

The victims included Ravi Prakash, a doctor, Ekta, Kapil, Alok Verma, and Nalin Rai, all BTech graduates, and Parvati Ojha, who owned the eatery. The Delhi Police have filed a case against unknown people, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has suspended two of its engineers.

Most of the people injured were engineers or doctors studying at coaching institutes in the area or who lived in the neighbourhood. The collapse has raised concerns about illegal constructions and loose enforcement standards in the Capital.

Rescuers continued to comb through the debris, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies were criticized for their slow response and lack of equipment.
