Assam Man Shot by Cops After Trying to Escape Rape Charges

A 35-year-old man, accused of raping a 10-year-old girl, was shot by police in Assam after he tried to escape and snatch a service weapon from an officer.

The suspect, Akkas Ali, was arrested on Sunday and later admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

According to police, the girl was taken to a doctor after complaining of pain, and she revealed the sexual assault to the doctor.

A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, POCSO Act, and Juvenile Justice Act.

The suspect was caught hiding in a nearby house, but he attacked police and tried to escape while being shifted to a different police station.

Police shot him after he threatened them inside the moving vehicle.
