A special CBI court in Bhopal remanded former model and actor Twisha Sharma's husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh to 14 days of judicial custody.
The case was handed over to CBI on the recommendation of the state government after Twisha was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12.
Giribala Singh, a retired judge, expressed fears for their safety and requested special security arrangements, citing her past judgments against hardened criminals in Bhopal Central Jail.
Both Samarth and Giribala Singh will be kept in separate cells at Bhopal Central Jail until June 16.
They maintained their innocence, claiming they never harassed Twisha physically or mentally, while Twisha's family accused them of dowry torture.
The CBI will resume questioning once crucial evidence is received, including the second post-mortem report, viscera analysis, and forensic examination of mobile phones, laptops, and other materials.
