A devastating fire swept through a hotel in Malviya Nagar, south Delhi, killing at least 21 people, including 18 foreign nationals.
The hotel was operating without a fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) and allegedly violating multiple safety norms.
The building had only one entry and exit point, permanently sealed windows, and a sensor-operated main door, hampering evacuation as the fire spread rapidly.
The Delhi Police has arrested the hotel's owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, in connection with the incident.
A magisterial inquiry has been ordered by the Delhi Chief Minister's Office to investigate the lapses leading to the tragedy.
