A woman in Dehradun was rescued by her parents after being locked in a toilet by her husband and in-laws for nearly a year, during which she was starved, tortured, and denied access to her newborn twins.

The victim, Sakshi, was confined from July 2025, just months after giving birth to twins in February, and was given only raw rice, an onion, salt, and a green chilli to eat.

Her father, Sanjeev Bahuguna, lodged a complaint with the police, which filed an FIR and booked her husband and in-laws under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The police have launched an investigation and are recording the victim's statements.
