Temperatures in Delhi rose marginally on Wednesday, but the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert till Friday for the Capital, forecasting rain and thunderstorms.

The weather department expects partly to generally cloudy skies for the next couple of days, with light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph.

Similar conditions are predicted to continue on Saturday as well, as part of pre-monsoon activities, which are normal throughout June.

The city will experience occasional rain and thunderstorms, providing short breaks to the heat, according to private forecaster Skymet Weather vice president Mahesh Palawat.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to remain below 40 degrees Celsius for the next six days, with the downpour forecast keeping it in check.
