The formation of Karnataka's new cabinet gained momentum on Monday as chief minister-designate DK Shivakumar and former CM Siddaramaiah submitted their lists of ministerial candidates to Congress state in-charge Randeep Surjewala.
A high-level meeting is scheduled for Tuesday to finalise the cabinet's composition, with the selection of deputy chief ministers remaining unresolved.
Both former home minister G Parameshwara and outgoing minister Priyank Kharge are eyeing the slot, with the party seeking caste balance in the upcoming government.
Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah are set to meet with Congress leaders to discuss their respective lists of candidates, with the possibility of a smaller council of ministers taking oath on Wednesday if a consensus is not reached.
