A one-and-a-half-year-old toddler died after weeks of brutal abuse at the hands of his mother and her live-in partner in Kerala. The child was rushed to a hospital after coughing and vomiting blood, but doctors declared him brought dead.
Police arrested the two after the grandparents alleged repeated abuse. The post-mortem revealed 51 injuries on the toddler's body, indicating severe physical abuse over two to three weeks.
The medical evidence showed a fatal head injury and extensive internal trauma led to the child's death. The toddler's arms were fractured, and there were circular burn marks across his body, suggesting cigarette burns.
The grandparents were the first to raise the alarm, claiming the child had numerous injuries when he was taken from their home by his mother.
Fresh allegations have surfaced against the lover from his first wife's family, accusing him of prolonged physical abuse and threatening the family.
