The Patna police have booked educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, after his security guards opened fire in the air following a group of people vandalising his coaching institute on June 2.

The two security guards were arrested for opening fire outside the institute premises in the Musallahpur Hat area under the Kadamkuan police station limits on Thursday on charges of attempt to murder and violation of the Arms Act.

According to investigators, the FIR was filed after the guards allegedly told the police during interrogation that they opened fire on Khan’s direct instructions.

Khan, however, claimed that the guards had acted in self-defence, saying "A clash was underway outside. Knowing that the police would take time to arrive, we fired in self-defence," in a video statement.

Police, however, claimed that Khan was trying to provoke students by claiming that other institutes would raise their fees if his coaching centre was shut down.
