The Mizoram government has launched a Centre-backed programme to combat soil degradation and promote sustainable farming practices.
Under the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' campaign, agricultural experts will conduct seminars and training sessions to educate farmers on reducing chemical fertiliser use and adopting natural farming methods.
State Governor Vijay Kumar Singh expressed concerns over the excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, which have harmed agricultural land and human health.
He stressed the importance of shifting towards natural agricultural practices and regular soil testing to ensure crops receive the right nutrition.
The initiative aims to promote green manuring, bio-fertilisers, and organic nutrient sources to improve soil health and support farmers with targeted government schemes.
