Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences over the loss of lives in a fire incident in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area.
PM Modi announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased victim and financial assistance of ₹50,000 for every injured person.
The fire broke out at a Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday, killing at least 21 people and injuring several others.
Government leaders, including Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, have expressed their grief over the incident and offered condolences to the families of the victims.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established, and the building owner responsible for negligence will be arrested, according to Delhi Minister Ashish Sood.
